Jessie Bostelle

The inspiration for this mural was the tireless work that activist and educator Jessie Bostelle delivered during her life in Lane County. Her early death from cancer moved her colleagues and friends to imagine a bigger than life memorial that would cause her memory and work to live on.

The Dignity of Work was an important theme to be integrated into this mural. Students spent time learning about the history of the labor movement and meeting with representatives of OPEU, the Union sponsoring this project.
